You'll get lessons in steering, docking, and locking through before heading out. It was exciting to actually enter the lock and see how the water is controlled for boats along the Mohawk River. The historical and geographical information was very interesting, as well. If you’re looking for the perfect experience for a family trip, this is it. 90 minute cruise that I and my 8 and 10 year old grandchildren loved. The crew directed everyone to the front/bow and to the rear/stern at appropriate times so that they did not miss any of the action on the trip-especially in the lock itself which, they said, was the highlight. However, while Carnival Breeze offers a multitude of entertainment and dining venues, some guests have pointed out that the ship’s layout can be a bit confusing, especially for first-time cruisers. A bit of exploration on the first day can help in getting your bearings right.
Unfortunately, this does mean some venues are small, and so queues are large. And others have unusual positions – including some spa rooms directly below the (noisy) kids’ club. It’s helped by the popular Lanai Promenade that wraps around the ship on the lower deck, which offers a bit of respite from all the fun of the rest of the ship. It’s well maintained and offers a good mix of itineraries across the Caribbean and Central America from Texas. Culinary-wise, this cruise ship has introduced food made by Shaq who is renowned for his fried chicken.
